Driving on Tasmanian Roads is on the Left Hand Side. Most roads in Tasmania have relatively light traffic – this makes for very pleasant driving conditions. There are very few multi lane highways and most major roads between major towns are two lanes, one each way.

Many roads are often winding which makes for lower speeds. This leads to longer travel times than one might normally expect. Traffic conditions can change quite quickly – especially in the highland region. Care must be taken with high winds & some snow a possibility.
